About Town & School Budgets

BelmontBudget.org does not CREATE any of the budget documents referenced on this page. These documents are made available to the extent they are available from the Town Administrator's office and the Belmont Public Schools. The same documents can be obtained directly from those sources.

The Key Documents
The documents described below provide particular insight into the FY2012 annual Belmont Town budget and the annual Belmont Public Schools budget:

• Belmont Town Budget
• The document labeled "FY2012 Budget Cover Letter & Miscellaneous Charts" provides an overview of the Town budget and a discussion of the high-level financial issues facing the Town.
  
  This document also provides a roadmap to the detailed department-level budget information found in the other budget documents. This roadmap is found on page 13 (page 15 of the file).
  
  
• The "FY2012 Budgets by Department vs Available Funds" document provides account-level detail of Town expenditures by department.
  
  This document compares actual FY2009 and FY2010 expenditures and projected FY2011 expenditures with the Level-Service and Available-Funds FY2012 budgets.
  
  There is a lot of detail in this document. A good starting point is the summary of recommended FY2012 expenditures by Town department on pages 50-52.
  
  
• The document labeled "FY2012 Budget Narrative & Performance Data" is also organized by Town department. It provides a wealth of information about the functions and staffing levels of each department and reviews the input and output measurements of each department.
  
  
• Belmont Public Schools Budget
• The document "FY2012 Budget Statement from the Superintendent of Schools" discusses the BPS budget process and provides an analysis of the actions required to make the budget conform with Available Funds.
  
  
• The document entitled "FY2012 BPS Available Funds General Fund Budget" provides all of the budget detail. It is organized by program and displays both dollar and headcount information. A good starting point in this document is the summary on pages 1-2.
